Citizen Coffee in Nguekokh, Senegal, on participatory citizenship

Recently, ComDev Africa, part of our Consortium, organized a Citizen Coffee event in Nguekokh, Senegal, as part of the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab programme, under the Agi_Re initiative. The event took place from 14:00 to 16:00 GMT and gathered over 100 participants, including high school and university students, teachers, members of community organizations, local government representatives, and partner institutions.

The session focused on the theme, “What is the importance of participatory citizenship within a community?” and provided a platform for dialogue, shared reflection, and artistic expression. Through open discussions and interactive workshops, participants exchanged ideas and experiences on how young people can actively contribute to their communities and promote democratic engagement. The Citizen Coffee fostered mutual learning among youth, artists, and community leaders. It encouraged the development of concrete suggestions to strengthen civic action at the local level. These insights will inform upcoming initiatives and contribute to shaping the direction of the Agi_Re programme.

Together with ComDev Africa, we’d like to express our sincere appreciation to all those who contributed to the event’s success, recognizing the commitment and collaboration that made the day meaningful and impactful for the Nguekokh community.
