Youth Forum on Peace and Governance: Building peace together

As part of the AGIRE programme, ComDev Africa volunteers organised this pivotal Youth Forum on Peace and Governance in Maroua, Cameroon on 23 Jan 2026, bringing together 213 participants in an inclusive space for dialogue between young people, local authorities, and community leaders. Using digital citizenship tools, they developed concrete proposals to strengthen peacebuilding and local governance, highlighting digital advocacy’s role.

Purpose and Impact

The forum provided an inclusive space where 213 participants reflected on peacebuilding and transparent local governance, engaged in dialogue with local authorities and community leaders, and used digital citizenship tools to turn discussion into concrete proposals. The impact includes stronger youth capacity for advocacy and civic participation, improved youth–authority engagement, and documented outputs.

  • Signed attendance list (with gender/age breakdown).
  • Narrative report with photos/media.
  • Youth recommendations booklet formally submitted to authorities.
  • Digital content to amplify the initiative and reinforce youth mobilisation.

As a volunteer quoted:
“We have always wanted to have forums that bring together young people and authorities.”
Fadimatou Bachirou, volunteer.

This forum stands as a reminder that when young people are given the space and tools, they can shape pathways to peace that benefit entire communities.
