Facilitator Training Strengthens Youth Leadership and Community Mobilization in Cameroon

21-22 May 2026, Yaoundé, Cameroon

From 21 to 22 May 2026, ComDev Africa brought together 30 youth representatives and members of youth organizations for a two-day Facilitator Training in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The training was designed to strengthen the capacities of young facilitators, volunteer leaders, and ambassadors in collective intelligence approaches and the use of agi_RE tools.

Throughout the training, participants engaged in interactive learning sessions, practical workshops, and collaborative exercises focused on leadership, teamwork, and community organizing. The programme equipped participants with methods to identify local challenges, mobilize communities, and develop strategies that support youth-led action and advocacy.

A key focus of the training was the application of collective intelligence methods to address issues affecting young people and their communities. Participants explored practical approaches to raising awareness and engaging stakeholders on topics including migration, climate change, human rights, digital inclusion, and employment. Discussions also highlighted the importance of tackling the digital divide and ensuring that more young people can access opportunities to participate in social and civic life.

The training marks an important step in building a network of skilled facilitators who will support the recruitment, engagement, and training of additional young people in target communities across Cameroon. By sharing the knowledge and tools acquired during the sessions, participants will contribute to amplifying youth voices and strengthening local advocacy efforts.

Reflecting on the experience, participant Crescence shared: “This training course has been very rewarding for me and for the youth organisation I represented. Thanks to the tools provided by the agi-Re course, we will improve the way we ensure young people’s voices are heard. We will involve young people more closely in the development of our advocacy initiatives.”

The activity also benefited from the presence of members of the EU Delegation team in Cameroon, reinforcing the importance of youth engagement and collaborative action in building more inclusive and participatory communities.
