
AEYA Launch Event in Dakar, Senegal
On September 30, 2025, the Hôtel Azalaï in Dakar, Senegal, hosted the official launch of the Africa-Europe Youth Academy (AEYA), an initiative of the European Union’s Youth Action Plan and part of the Global Gateway Africa-Europe package. The event highlighted the commitment to youth leadership in Africa and Europe, bringing together young leaders, organizations, and actors from the economic ecosystem to strengthen the role of youth as agents of change.
During the day, the objectives and program of the AEYA were presented by members of the Youth Advisory Board, the Global Index on Youth Participation was shared, and the addition of new members to the youth advisory board from countries such as Zambia, Mozambique, Uganda, Benin, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, and the Republic of Congo was celebrated.
Through this launch, AEYA reinforced its commitment to offering opportunities for young people aged 18 to 30 to develop their potential, ensuring that at least 50% of participants were women and that young people in vulnerable situations were actively included.
