Agi_Re Programme: Transforming youth and communities across Africa
From February 20 to March 10, under the leadership of our Consortium partner, ComDev Africa, the Agi_Re programme successfully implemented a large-scale initiative in six African countries: Tunisia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Kenya, and Cameroon. This ambitious effort united youth organizations, local authorities, and enterprises, creating a platform for meaningful discussions and action-oriented solutions.
The programme spanned across major cities such as Sfax, Tunis, Dakar, Freetown, Accra, Nairobi, and Douala, mobilizing 600 participants. One of the core components of Agi_Re was the training of mobilizers, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to engage communities effectively. Additionally, ambassadors organized workshops with young people, women, local leaders, and other key stakeholders to explore six critical themes affecting their regions. The primary goal was to identify pressing issues impacting local communities and develop immediate solutions. Participants analyzed their challenges through interactive sessions and devised actionable strategies to address them. The initiative strongly emphasized raising awareness, particularly among young people, about the socio-economic and environmental issues shaping their countries.
Beyond fostering dialogue, Agi_Re focused on mobilizing youth to take concrete steps toward resolving local challenges. The programme empowered young leaders to contribute meaningfully to their communities by encouraging active participation. Additionally, insights gathered from these consultations were used to generate content for advocacy at national, continental, and intercontinental levels, ensuring that local voices played a role in shaping broader policies.
The success of Agi_Re highlighted the importance of collaboration between civil society, government institutions, and the private sector. By combining training, dialogue, and action, the programme created a sustainable model for community-driven change, demonstrating the power of youth engagement in shaping Africa’s future.
