ABOUT
De victimes à Leaders is an initiative implemented by ISHAKA 2250 in Burundi, focusing on displaced women in Gateri and Mutambara. The initiative addresses the vulnerability and exclusion faced by displaced women by strengthening their knowledge of civil rights, advocacy, and leadership. Through sensitization sessions held in displacement settings, women are equipped with the skills and confidence to understand their rights, speak up for their needs, and participate more actively in community life and decision-making processes. The initiative aims to support women in moving from vulnerability to leadership, contributing to stronger resilience, participation, and positive change within communities in Burundi.

“ Through the From Victims to Leaders initiative, we envision empowering displaced women in Gateri and Mutambara to move from a position of vulnerability to one of confidence, leadership, and active participation in their communities. We aim to ensure that women understand their civil rights, are able to advocate for themselves and their families, and confidently engage in decision-making processes within displacement settings and beyond. ”
