Strengthening Connections: Engaging with Local Youth in Lusaka
Following the momentum of our first Annual Review Meeting in Lusaka, we seized the opportunity to connect with local youth and civil society organizations, further embedding our commitment to meaningful engagement and collaboration. During a significant ceremony, Consortium partners engaged in discussions with young leaders and representatives from various CSOs, exploring upcoming opportunities within the programme’s framework. This gathering provided a platform for dialogue, ensuring that the programme remains aligned with the aspirations of African youth while fostering greater inclusivity and participation.
A highlight of the event was the presence of three distinguished guests – former AU-EU Youth Cooperation Hub members whose contributions played a pivotal role in shaping this initiative. Mrs. Marilena Maragkou from the Education & Skills Cluster, Mrs. Anaïs Amazit from the Environment Cluster, and Mr. Benjamin Mwape from the Governance Cluster attended the ceremony, sharing their insights and reinforcing the significance of continuity in youth-driven development efforts. Their invaluable work laid the foundation for many of the programme’s current initiatives, making their participation especially meaningful.
Consortium members, guests, and youth participants signed a commemorative mural in a symbolic act of commitment, marking their dedication to creating a more inclusive and collaborative society across Africa and Europe. This moment was more than just a gesture. It reaffirmed our shared vision and collective responsibility toward sustainable change. The ceremony was made even more special by the enthusiastic participation of attendees, both in person and online. Their engagement turned this gathering into an unforgettable milestone in our journey, reinforcing the importance of youth empowerment and cross-continental cooperation. The connections formed and the ideas shared in Lusaka will continue to shape the programme’s evolution, ensuring that youth remain at the heart of every decision.
