F.A.Q on the Youth Voices Third-Party-Funding Mechanism

The Youth Voices Third-Party-Funding Mechanism (TPFM) under the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab – Power of the Collective funds youth-led organizations working to amplify marginalized voices, advocate for policy change, and build strong youth networks. Below, we answer some of the most common questions regarding the funding opportunity.

1. What is the TPFM?

The Youth Voices Third-Party-Funding Mechanism (TPFM) is a funding initiative designed to support youth-led initiatives that address social challenges, empower marginalized groups, and connect young people to decision-making spaces at the African Union (AU) and European Union (EU).

2. Who can apply?

There are specific eligibility criteria. Read them all here

3. What types of projects are eligible for funding?

The TPFM supports youth-led initiatives that focus on:

  • Advocacy & Awareness Campaigns – Projects that highlight and challenge discrimination in communities
  • Inclusion of Marginalized Youth – Initiatives that amplify the voices of hard-to-reach youth in decision-making processes
  • Coalition & Movement Building – Efforts that align with national youth plans and AU Agenda 2063
  •  Diaspora Collaboration – Initiatives that strengthen connections between African youth in the diaspora and youth groups in Africa

Successful applicants will receive grants between €1,000 and €10,000 for a 12-month funding period to implement their projects.

4. How will applications be evaluated?

Applications will be assessed based on:

  • Relevance & Impact – How well does the project align with TPFM’s goals?
  • Inclusion & Innovation – Does the initiative involve marginalized youth and propose creative solutions?
  • Feasibility & Sustainability – Can the project be successfully implemented within 12 months?
  • Collaboration & Reach – Does the project encourage partnerships and broad engagement?

5. Is there a specific number of projects that will receive the funding?
